WE MADE IT

Absolem has a tradition of more than 20 years in mechanical engineering –be it with lasertechnology involved or not– in a wide variety of industries and technical invironments. This gives us a great potential and a broad view on new technologies and applications as well, even in completely different areas. 

As to lasertechnology: we know what energy produced by various lasers can do to materials. The combination of a series of parameters like wavelength, pulstime, amplitude and laserspot may warm-up, burn or even evaporate material for example. Moreover we have a lot of experience in integrating lasers and alike technoloogy in stand-alone machines or even in fast production lines.

AND THE NAME ABSOLEM. WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

The name ABSOLEM comes from a character in Tim Burton’s film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (the famous story by Lewis Carroll):
Absolem is the wise and guiding oracle, a dynamic character that appears at the most important moments in the past, present and future. He teaches, encourages and challenges Alice to look for her strengths, to see them and recognise them. Absolem helps her to find the best in herself, to decisively overcome obstacles and create a better Wonderland. At the end of the story, Absolem transforms from a caterpillar into a butterfly.

This is so inspring to us. Because we too aim to be a reference for services in the support of transformational processes and in engineering projects, or quite possibly in your career as an engineering professional.

ANK DE WILDE   ankdewilde@absolem.be Owner & Director Ank is first and foremost the CHO-Chief Happiness Officer. She sees every day as an opportunity to create an organisation that makes people happier. We know staff members are people, not ‘resources’ and with this thought in mind, we get along well with each other at Absolem. Besides turning our HR policy into reality, Ank makes sure Marketing, Communication, Organisation and IT are all on the right paths. Are you wondering where she finds the energy for all this? From enjoying the little things. Friday evening and the weekends are devoted to Bruno and her son, as well as experiencing special moments with good friends and family. BRUNO DEJAEGHERE   brunodejaeghere@absolem.be Owner & Director CEO, CFO, COO … What’s in a name? As an involved and energetic entrepreneur, Bruno ends up wearing plenty of different hats in his job! It’s the combination of working on the growth of Absolem and the contact he makes with everyone, every day that puts a smile on his face every morning. There is no one else who believes in the power of Absolem or the value of the services offered quite the same way he does. The ironclad partnership he forms with Ank helps them anticipate future obstacles instead of feeling pressured by them. But blowing off steam is still important. Bruno does this during his lunchbreak by jogging along the river and recharging before finishing off the rest of his programme for the day!

WIM VERBOVEN   wimverboven@absolem.be Business Development Manager Wim develops Absolem with Ank and Bruno. He does this by being a first-rate account manager for clients, remaining open to new projects and being involved in the careers of our engineering consultants. If this means having to enjoy an occasional restaurant meal, he’s certainly prepared to commit himself! Wim maintains a strict balance in everything he does: work and family, delicious food, sport and exercise, and giving and taking. It’s crazy to think people say this doesn’t exist – Wim embodies the concept!

HERMAN VAN DIJCK   hermanvandijck@absolem.be Technical Operations Manager Through his real-life experience and great interest in technology, Herman helps us to develop Absolem. From a young age, teamwork and technology have been a constant presence in Herman’s life. You could say they have kept him filled with energy and curiosity. From drawing board to management tasks, Herman is never far from the actual project. He is down to earth, and sometimes in it up to his knees. He puts himself at the service of clients and colleagues alike. His playground? Making the bridge between development and production. The same ingredients make up his free time too: set and lighting design for theatrical productions, DIY projects, bike and ski maintenance. Sports and family life complete the balance.

In onze eigen professioneel engineering centrum te Turnhout krijg je de kans om echt aan de slag te gaan. We werken aan systemen om grensverleggende processen naar de industrie te brengen.
 
We zijn op zoek naar een gedreven persoon die onze collega assistentie kan verlenen bij de Absolem Engineering activiteiten:
 
Procesonderzoek

• Labo proefopstellingen uitwerken, voorbereiden en monteren.
• Draaien, frezen, slijpen, boren, plaatbewerking …
• Bestellen (en opvolgen) van onderdelen
• Bedienen van lasers
• Uitvoeren van laboproeven
• Opmeten van producten en producteigenschappen
• Het loggen van data
• Eenvoudige statistische berekeningen 

Sampleproductie

• Maken van grotere labo series
• Logistieke flow: ontvangen van goederen, verwerken, verpakken en verzenden. 
• Het bedienen van de labo opstellingen – meetapparatuur, laserinstallaties
• Steekproeven/metingen uitvoeren en het noteren van afwijkingen
• Verpakken en verzenden naar de klant

Machinebouw

• 3D en 2D tekeningen kunnen lezen
• Het kunnen maken van schetsen en tekeningen (maakonderdelen en opstellingen).
• Onderdelen kunnen maken/aanpassen: draaien, frezen, slijpen, vonken, boren, plaatbewerking, lassen…
• Montage en bedrijfsklaar maken van machine-units

Een gedreven Mechanical Designer

The job

Doen wat je graag doet. Dat maakt gelukkig.

Ben jij iemand die houdt van variatie en uitdagingen? Bij Absolem zal je ingezet worden op diverse projecten waar je verantwoordelijk bent voor het ontwerp van innovatieve en hoogtechnologische producten en machines. Naargelang de grootte en complexiteit van het project, krijg je de uitdaging om de volledige ontwikkeling van concept tot oplevering van de machine geheel zelfstandig uit te werken. Hierbij hoort niet alleen het design, maar ook het detailleren en up-to-date houden van de technische documentatie van je projecten. Daarnaast ben jij de contactpersoon voor zowel klanten als leveranciers voor de toegewezen projecten bij onze klant. De rapportage gebeurt rechtstreeks aan de Projectmanager en/of Projectleider.

Is dit jouw profiel?

De grootste kennis is zelfkennis.

• Masterdiploma Elektromechanica of gelijkwaardig door ervaring.
• Een aangeboren nieuwsgierigheid voor machinbouw/ontwerp.
• Minstens 5 jaar relevante werkervaring als ontwerper in machinebouw/productontwikkeling.
• Goede kennis en ervaring van één/meerdere CAD-pakketten: Creo, NX, SolidWorks, Inventor,…
• Vertrouwd met de geldende normen en machinerichtlijn (CE).
• Zelfstandig en zin voor verantwoordelijkheid
• Nauwkeurig in de uitvoering van je werkzaamheden.
• Communicatief vlot in de omgang en enige ervaring met het aansturen van mensen.

With Absolute Absolem, we give our time to the greater community. How do we do that?
 
Our consultants work on a project basis. This sometimes leaves them with free time between two projects. We thought of a unique way to fill in this time. 
 
Everyone working for us is given the chance to work for a non-profit organisation. By doing voluntary work, they contribute to the community. They help others who need help for any variety of reasons. At the same time, it inevitably gives our consultants a gift: a satisfying experience and invaluable personal development. This is because the voluntary work and the organisations are not chosen randomly; a match is always based on a talent evaluation of the worker in question. This ensures that the work corresponds with their unique - and possibly undiscovered - talents, which can then be further developed when volunteering.
A genuine win-win situation.

In 2016, we donated 432 hours of work to society. For Absolem, this is the equivalent of about 25,000 euro. In 2017 we continued this trend!

Not only with inspiration sessions about lasers, but also in our collaboration for student projects and on-site internships, Absolem is taking an important step towards sharing knowledge.

This is now ingrained in our actions. Environmentally friendly company cars or company bikes will be indispensable in the future. 

• We are also able to help other companies to save energy through the work we do. For example, the use of laser technology often saves on the Total Cost of Ownership - it’s also far more energy - efficient than other technologies. One example of this is in the burner technology from Philips. When used in production, the lifetime of lasers is extremely high, which leads to more (energy) savings. Finally, laser technology is an important enabler for green technologies. Think about solar panels and batteries for electrical storage.

• At our headquarters in Mechelen, we also make a contribution. We only use ecological products and rainwater for toilets. We have LED lighting, pay attention to ergonomics and work with as little paper as possible.

• We are also a proud partner of the Kempen 2020 energy and climate policy project. Read more about it here.

Vanuit je passie en drive voor Mechanical Design zal je bij onze klanten meewerken aan projecten binnen machinebouw of productontwikkeling. Afhankelijk van je kennis en ervaring neem je het ontwerpen, construeren, uitwerken, detailleren en het maken van samenstellingen voor je rekening. WAT IS JOUW UITDAGING?

Ons vertrekpunt is jouw uitdaging in productontwikkeling of productie.
 
In eerste instantie nemen we afstand van het gedefinieerde probleem. We nemen alle aspecten mee in onze analyse: product, proces en machine. De uitkomst van deze probleemanalyse bepaalt onze aanpak.

In hoofdzaak kan je bij ons terecht voor volgende diensten:

• PROCESONTWIKKELING – Fase 1: we definiëren verschillende procesconcepten en testen één of meerdere van deze concepten in ons labo. We doen met andere woorden de nodige feasibility tests. Vervolgens verfijnen en verbeteren we de gekozen processen. We werken voor jouw een volledig robust en stabiel productieproces uit. 
• (SAMPLE) PRODUCTIE – Wij hebben in ons labo de mogelijkheid om voor u te produceren, voor om het even welke reden. Zowel tijdens de procesontwikkeling als in de eerste fase van de productlancering: u vraagt, wij draaien! Ook voor complexe ‘laserjobs’ kan je bij ons terecht.
• MACHINEBOUW – We bouwen een unieke en op maat gemaakte machine, gebaseerd op en in functie van het proces dat we hebben ontwikkeld. We begeleiden met andere woorden jouw traject richting (massa)fabricage en helpen je groeien door efficiënt te mechaniseren. We adviseren je bij het design en de optimalisering van de juiste machines met de juiste specificaties. We analyseren jouw producten, processen en productie. We bouwen alle soorten machines: van een labo-opstelling, tot een semi-geautomatiseerde machine maar ook volledig geautomatiseerde machines.

Afhankelijk van jouw traject en de noden van jouw bedrijf, bieden we verder ook onderstaande diensten aan:

• PRODUCTONTWIKKELING – Wij ontwerpen, ontwikkelen en perfectioneren uw product, component of prototype. We hebben extra aandacht voor haalbaarheid, maakbaarheid, betaalbaarheid en schaalbaarheid.
• ONDERZOEKSPROJECTEN – Wil je leren, innoveren, procedures en processen optimaliseren?

Absolem heeft meer dan 20 jaar ervaring in lasertechnologie, al dan niet gecombineerd met machinebouw, in uiteenlopende industrieën. We hebben dus heel wat bagage!
 
Nieuwe realisaties zijn vaak een spin-off van een eerdere ontwikkeling in een totaal andere omgeving.
We begrijpen wat laserenergie kan doen met diverse materialen. Een goed gekozen combinatie van golflengte, puls-duur, amplitude en spotgrootte kan veel of weinig materiaal doen opwarmen, smelten of verdampen. Electrical Design Engineer

The job

Ben jij iemand die houdt van variatie en uitdagingen? Bij Absolem zal je ingezet worden op diverse projecten waar je als Electrical Design Engineer een belangrijke schakel zal zijn binnen het team. Je zal dagelijks je passie en kennis voor het lezen en ontwerpen van elektrische schema’s, installaties en schakelborden kunnen inzetten. Samen met de projectleiders, klanten, partners,…overleg je over de specificaties en het ontwerp. Daarnaast zoek je de beste technische en budgettaire oplossingen voor je project uit en maak je een selectie van de instrumenten om je concept uit te werken. Het bijhouden van duidelijke documentatie is ook een belangrijke schakel in het hele proces. Last but not least… Wat geeft er meer voldoening en energie dan het tijdig afleveren van betrouwbare geteste systemen met de vooropgestelde kwaliteit!

Automatisatie Ingenieur

The job

Door het gebruik van PLC’s zal je instaan voor de automatisatie van onder andere productieprocessen en prototypemachines.
